ELK Studios Launches Nordic Mythology-Themed Slot, Valkyrie
Swedish slot development company, ELK Studios, has released its first-ever 3D slot, a Nordic mythology-themed game called Valkyrie.
Officially launched on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, Valkyrie is a five-reel, four-row slot game that features free spins, wild symbols and the three differently-sized ‘Epic’ reel symbols, which cover either 2×2 spaces, 2×3 spaces or 3×3 spaces.
The free spins are triggered by finding ‘Free Spin’ symbols. The number of free spins to be awarded will depend on how many of these symbols are on the grid at one time, with up to 10 spins to be won. Additional free spins can be randomly triggered during this time.

On top of the standard gameplay, Valkyrie also offers three bonus features. In the ‘Shield of Chance’, multipliers are randomly added to the reels. The ‘Sword of Destiny’ introduced more Wild symbols that are randomly attached to reels 2, 3 and 4. The ‘Arrow of Fortune’ feature will randomly provide an Epic symbol.
Valkyrie has a 96.3% return to player (RTP) rate, which is on the higher side of average across the industry. According to ELK Studios, it has a volatility rating of 8/10, with the maximum payout being 5,000x the maximum bet. The game pays out over 1,024 paylines and bets as low as 20p can be placed.
