Launched just months after the release of blockbuster hit, War of the Planet of the Apes, the movie franchise tie-in title from the Swedish game development giant is already available at a range of online casinos.

The new video slot is an officially-licenced game based on two movies from 20th Century Fox’s Planet of the Apes series – Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, released in 2011 and 2014 respectively.

The game takes on a unique dual-slot format, with two games running side-by-side simultaneously. One spin activates ten reels – five per game. The one on the left is called RISE and on the right, there is DAWN, representing the two movies, and two different phases of the journey of one of the franchise’s main protagonists, Caesar.

The symbols feature various characters from the movies and they include Scatter symbols that can trigger a round of free spins. The game also has Wilds, Stacked Wilds, and special Rise and Dawn free spins bonuses. The Rise Free Spins feature gives you 10 free spins with all the wild stored for the final free spin, while the Dawn Free Spins offers 15 free spins but also allows you to gather symbols to win more free spins, extra wilds and boost the multiplier up to 5x.

The game has 40 paylines and can be spun with 20p all the way up to £200 on mobile, tablet and desktop versions.

As with many video slots franchise tie-ins, Planet of the Apes includes scenes from the movies as well as a host of sound effects which are intended to immerse players deep into the game’s atmospheric environment.

Chief Product Officer at NetEnt, Simon Hammon, hopes the connection to the long-running movie franchise will attract players from different age groups to the game. The first Planet of the Apes movie was released in 1968.
